Reviewing Books by Heat Level Without Guesswork
A five-star romance can still be the wrong romance for a particular reader at a particular moment. Sometimes you want devastating eye contact and a door that politely closes. Sometimes you want the door open, the tension high and absolutely no euphemism involving a thunderstorm. That is why reviewing books by heat level matters: it helps readers find the experience they actually came for, rather than treating “spicy” as a vague promise made by a blushing aubergine emoji.
Heat-level reviews are not moral report cards. They are reader service. Done well, they make a review more useful, more trustworthy and far less likely to leave someone thinking, “Wait, that was what everyone called low spice?”
